Leading Through Toastmasters
I joined Toastmasters in October 2017 after seeking feedback from a former manager who encouraged me to see Toastmasters as an opportunity to develop my leadership and public speaking abilities.
I have delivered hundreds of speeches at corporate, community, and advanced clubs in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. In addition, I have also facilitated in-person and virtual speech contests and Toastmasters Leadership Institution (TLI) seminars.
From July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, I served a successful one-year term as an area director. I was the liaison of District 18, which provides educational support and fulfills the needs of over 100 clubs and 1,000 members throughout Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Additionally, I personally led the strategic efforts of five clubs: Bank of America, Blue Hen (University of Delaware), Greater Elkton Club, JP Morgan Chase and Stine Research Center.
I also collaborated with multiple area directors to organize and facilitate in-person speech contests. Since July 1, 2020, I have been serving as a division director for District 18. In this capacity, I lead a team of three area directors who work in partnership with the district to ensure that each club achieves its mission and fulfills its responsibilities to its members.
During my current tenure as division director, I have led several small teams to organize annual TLI leadership trainings and virtual speech contests. The objective of a TLI is to ensure the following members receive comprehensive training to enhance the quality of their clubs:
- Club Presidents
- Vice Presidents of Education
- Vice Presidents of Membership
- Vice Presidents of Public Relations
- Secretaries
- Treasurers
- Sergeant at Arms
